Course Outline

Our course will teach you everything you need to know to start a new career as a Medical Coding Specialist. Your online program includes practical instruction to train students to research and assign diagnostic and procedural codes to medical records. Students gain competency in ICD-10-CM and demonstrate CPT coding procedures. The course provides students with a solid foundation of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology and common disease processes.

    Prerequisites: A High School diploma or equivalent is required to be a medical coding professional. You must also be at least 16 years old.

    Enroll in a medical coding program, from a DEAC accredited school, such as ours, to gain the needed skills through our interactive learning modules and career support.

    You’ll now be prepared to pass the CPC-A® exam (administered online or in person by the AAPC). The exam cost is included in your tuition, along with a practice test and study materials.

    Meet with our career coaches to help you prepare your resume and get ready for job interviews.

Upon graduation from our program, you will receive your U.S. Career Institute Certificate of Completion attesting to your accomplishment. You are not required to take a certification exam, however taking this additional step will help you market yourself to potential employers and validate your knowledge in Medical Coding. USCI recommends taking the CPC-A® exam through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Your CPC-A exam fees are included in your tuition-up to a $425 value†.
