Collection and Storage of Information
As required by law and/or good business practice, we maintain prospective student and student records. This means that when you communicate with U.S. Career Institute, we will collect and store certain personal information in our customer database. This information could include contact and demographic information as well as other information, including but not limited to your name, address, phone number(s), e-mail address, social security number, date of birth or your zip code. In addition, we may collect certain financial information such as your credit card number, checking account information, or your mother’s maiden name, in order to process your order and collect payment. We also store academic information, such as grades.
Use of Information
From time to time, U.S. Career Institute will release student information to various school approval or government agencies, such as an accrediting agency or state education department, or to a collections company in order to collect a debt. Prior to releasing information to any other third party, U.S. Career Institute requires the student’s written permission. We will not disclose private information such as your credit card number or other personal financial information other than information for appropriate reporting to an accreditation or government agency, collection agency/credit bureau or person/agency you specify may have access to the information. Occasionally we may use the information you provide to help us improve our service, or to enable us to inform you about other products and services that may benefit you.
You may review and approve the information about you collected upon your enrollment in one or more of our programs. You may “opt-out” of any third party disclosure of that information (other than information required by a school approval or government agency, collection agency/credit bureau) or its use in ways unrelated to the operation of the website. Upon request, we will change or correct personal information that is erroneous. You should understand that information about you in our database may come from a number of sources, including previous contacts or orders made by you and third party mailing lists. Student Online assistance and online exams can only be accessed with a valid e-mail address and password. You are responsible for keeping your student credentials secret and confidential, and for notifying us if you believe that your student credentials have been stolen or might otherwise be misused.
