Graduates of the Phlebotomy Technician program are eligible to sit for the written portion of the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam through the National Heathcareer Association (NHA). To become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, you must also complete a minimum of 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary or finger sticks and provide proof of acceptable documentation to the NHA. You must provide documentation of this experience within 90 days of passing the CPT exam. USCI only offers online education and does NOT provide this live skill practice. Graduates should contact local labs, hospitals, or doctor’s offices to inquire about opportunities for venipuncture and capillary experience. Certification is a requirement of most companies and can impact your employment opportunities and salary.
Licensing requirements for phlebotomy technicians are not the same in every state and may include additional requirements beyond those offered in our course. U.S. Career Institute has reviewed the educational requirements for occupational licensure associated with this program and has provided state-specific licensure determinations. Prospective students should review the information provided by U.S. Career Institute. Students who have questions regarding licensure requirements in a particular state, their individual circumstances, or the licensure process are encouraged to contact the applicable licensing board for additional guidance. In the absence of state regulation, county or municipal ordinances or regulations may apply, and prospective students should confirm any applicable local requirements.
