New Training for Law Enforcement Assistance Jobs
U.S. CAREER INSTITUTE LAUNCHES CRIMINAL JUSTICE SPECIALIST COURSE

(Fort Collins, CO) - February 17, 2009 - U.S. Career Institute (USCI) announced the rollout of its new Criminal Justice Specialist course. The course joins the list of 18 other career-specific distance-learning programs offered by USCI. All USCI courses are accredited through the nationally recognized Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

USCI launched the new course to meet the needs of individuals interested in working for law-related government organizations (policing services, the courts, correctional facilities and national security agencies) or for individuals and businesses hiring security personnel to thwart crime and vandalism. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts faster-than-average job growth in many criminal justice related professions over the next half decade. Says Ann Rohr, president of USCI, “Our new course is an excellent way for people to enter a field that offers both job security and good income. With experience, employees in some criminal justice positions can earn more than $50,000 a year.”

The course is designed to help a student explore employment options in this diverse occupational category that includes, among others, crime scene investigators, court bailiffs, airport security guards, victim’s-rights advocates, prison officers, customs inspectors, homeland security agents and disaster relief managers. Through the course, a student will gain a background in criminology, policing, investigation, law enforcement reporting, criminal psychology, parole and probation, the court system and security (private, business, immigration and aviation). In each topic covered, the student will learn how a criminal justice specialist assists in procedures.

“One of the most valuable aspects of the new course is how it introduces the student to so many public and private sector jobs,” says USCI president Rohr. “The course provides detailed salary information and helps the student investigate emerging trends in the field, including the growing menace of new crimes such as cyber theft. A USCI Criminal Justice Specialist graduate will be prepared to seek any number of positions in law enforcement and community safety.”

U.S. Career Institute is one of three schools whose parent company is Weston Distance Learning, Inc. (Fort Collins, Colorado). The other two Weston schools are At-Home Professions and McKinley College. The schools enroll students throughout the country. Weston courses allow students to train at home, in their own time, for employment in fields shown to offer reliable job prospects and earning potential. Currently, Weston is launching a new distance education course every few months. Its state approval is issued by the Colorado Department of Education’s Division of Private Occupational Schools. U.S. Career Institute is approved for GI Bill, VA and DANTES military education benefits. To learn more about Weston Distance Learning, visit http://www.westondistancelearning.com/.
