Semester 1 (16 Credit Hours)

Business Fundamentals – Explore the exciting world of business with this program overview. Discover the many careers - and lucrative income – that await you. From accounting executives to a top manager, you’ll learn about the many career opportunities available to college grads.
Workplace Psychology–Discover the intricacies of social psychology. You’ll learn how personality traits, biology, health, stress, and psychological disorders affect human behavior in the workplace.
Introduction to Management – Discover the four principles of management: planning, organizing, controlling and leading. Use your skills to plan for success on a company, department and personal level.
Applied Business Math – This course provides an overview of business math and basic statistics. It emphasizes workplace applications of math and statistics.
Human Resources Management – Gain an introduction to the policies and practices found in today's human resource departments. An overview of topics such as staffing, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and labor relations will be provided.
Semester 2 (15 Credit Hours)
Principles of Employment – Discover what constitutes an effective system of employment relations. Learn how HR professionals evaluate staffing needs and develop selection systems, appraisal systems and measurement tools. Discover how training and development functions in an organization. Explore the roles of the state, the firm, unions and employees within ethical, legal, political, economic and human resource frameworks.
Computer Applications – Discover the fundamentals of computers, including hardware and software concepts, as well as networking and Internet terminology. Apply your skills using Microsoft® Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Marketing Principles – Learn to conduct customer and competitor analysis. Discover how to attract target markets for product, pricing, distribution and promotional decisions. Business
Business Communications – Develop skills for effective written communication. You’ll learn to produce clear, effective, audience-specific documents.
Introduction to Accounting I – Take a journey through the accounting cycle— from journalizing to closing the books. Apply the basics of bookkeeping and accounting theory, including interpreting
Semester 3 (18 Credit Hours)
Recruitment and Staffing – Discover effective recruiting and hiring practices. Learn how to write effective job descriptions and employment ads, successfully interview candidates and evaluate employees.
Employee Benefits Administration – Master basic employee benefits terminology, as well as gain an understanding of federally mandated programs, retirement programs, and health insurance benefits employers offer employees. Learn compensation and related federal laws.
Presentation Skills – Research, organize, and present factual communication. Apply effective communication skills through public speaking. Discover how to concisely deliver the intended message and ensure the message is clearly received.
Organizational Behavior – Learn management theory and gain a foundation in planning, organizing, directing, staffing and controlling. Apply management principles to real-world situations.
Employee Training and Development – In a changing marketplace, firms must recruit, develop and retain quality employees. Conduct needs assessments, linking training programs to your company’s strategic plans. Design and implement effective orientation programs, corporate training and continuing development programs. Explore contemporary human resource development issues, including diversity training and team development.

Semester 4 (15 Credit Hours)

Payroll Preparation – Learn how to maintain and interpret payroll records, calculate and process payroll, report wages and tax withholdings, figure the employer’s federal tax return, and much more. You’ll finish the course by completing comprehensive payroll simulations.
Business Law and Ethics – Study laws that affect business operations. Learn how business ethics and social responsibility shape the business environment. Additionally, you’ll gain an overview of the U.S. legal system.
Labor Relations – Explore the history and current role of the organized labor movement in the United States. Trace the movement’s influence on legislation and political institutions. Examine laws and regulations that apply to collective bargaining, labor contracts and arbitration. Discover how HR professionals implement collective bargaining agreements, from grievances to arbitration.
